Matt B. Roberts doesn’t just help run the show, but he also writes episodes. While doing an Outlander Season 5 Q&A, he shared the episodes he’s written.

Since the very first season, Matt B. Roberts has been involved in the writer’s room. That’s no different as we get into Outlander Season 5. During a Twitter Q&A to help fans get through Droughtlander, he shared a little about the episodes he’s written.

We already knew that he wrote the premiere episode. That’s not all that surprising. Ron D. Moore wrote the premiere episodes for the first three seasons when he was acting as the main showrunner. While Moore is still involved, Roberts has taken over the day-to-day running of the series and he co-wrote the Season 4 premiere with Toni Graphia. Usually, the showrunners will write the first episodes of various TV shows.

This time, Roberts is taking the sole writer credit for the episode. It’s worth noting that all episodes are agreed upon as a group but there’s always one or two lead writers for a script.

Roberts has now confirmed that he’s co-written the Season 5 finale with fellow EP, Graphia. Like the premiere, this isn’t all that surprising. He and Toni Graphia has co-written two previous season finales, Seasons 2 and 3. The two make an excellent writing team when it comes to emotional moments and capturing some heartfelt moments.

That was all Roberts would tell us. One thing he likes to do is avoid spoilers, even if some of the storylines are from the novels. He understands that not everyone had read the books. He also knows that seeing something transformed for the first time is important.

Even if you have read the books, there’s no guarantee the season is going to end the same way as “The Fiery Cross.” After all, there were moments at the end of “Drums of Autumn” skipped to bring a cliffhanger ending to Season 4.
