Right now, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is something for Outlander fans to watch to get through Droughtlander. The big question for many is whether there will be a second season of the Netflix series.

Most Netflix shows have decisions made within a month of the release date, whether good or bad. If the news hasn’t been shared, it’s usually bad news—a quiet cancellation. However, there have been times that it’s due to contract negotiations or developing the right story for the new season.
What are the chances of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance being renewed for a second season? This is a prequel to the 1982 movie, which means it’s really a series to explain how the world of Thra gets to where it is in the original movie. This prequel was originally developed as a feature film but turned into a TV show.
Jason Isaacs recently told Uproxx that he doesn’t view the series as a TV show at all. He views it as a 10-hour movie, split up into individual episodes. That could suggest that he doesn’t see the series getting renewed.
If it is renewed, it’s going to take time to develop another season. Everything is done through puppetry, which takes a little more time than adding in the graphics. We could also see it more of an anthology series, focusing on a different time period within Thra to continue the development of the overall world.
