Outlander fans spot familiar material in Carnival Row
Outlander fans watching Carnival Row have spotted some familiar material. Terry Dresbach shared all about the material on Twitter.
If you’re currently watching Carnival Row, you’ll certainly recognize Andrew Gower. We’ve known our Bonnie Prince Charlie would be attached to the Amazon series since last year. However, Outlander fans have spotted something else familiar: a certain piece of material.
Lead character in the fantastical neo-noir series, Vignette (Cara Delevingne), wears a red jacket in one of the episodes. Terry Dresbach shared an image of the outfit on her Outlander Twitter feed to let her followers know about it. This wasn’t a complaint but to raise awareness and see how many people would recognize it.

Naturally, many fans of Claire and Jamie immediately recognized it from Season 4. Claire wore a similar fabric but for a shirt instead of a jacket while in the Colonies.
While fans questioned where the fabric came from and whether it was a sign of something negative happening behind the scenes, Dresbach pointed out that there are certain wholesalers that work with the production companies within the United Kingdom. This wholesaler will be where both shows get their material from, and it just so happens both chose the same print for a couple of costumes.
It goes to show that both shows are trying to make authentic costumes, too. After all, the wholesaler works with productions that do period costumes. Carnival Row may be set in a fantasy world, a little like Game of Thrones, but there are certain aspects that will need to feel familiar to viewers. The costumes is one of those aspects.
Below are images from Outlander and from Carnival Row side by side so you can see the comparison of the two costumes.
