Outlander Season 5 filming at the halfway mark!
Want to know just how soon we could get Outlander Season 5? I can’t tell you that, but I can tell you that filming is at the halfway mark.
We don’t know when Outlander Season 5 will premiere, except that it’s at some point in “early 2020.” However, we do have some Season 5 filming news to share. It turns out that production is at the halfway mark.
Showrunner Matt B. Roberts shared the awesome news on Instagram, and if you’re not there regularly, you possibly missed it. Too many social media platforms, am I right? Roberts shared a behind the scenes image of a rehearsal for a scene—and it looks like Brianna and Roger are in that scene possibly in their cabin—with a note about being #morethanhalfwaydone.”

This sounds like it’s right on schedule still, too. See, we didn’t have to worry about the recent rain and flooding pushing production back.
With it being at the halfway mark, we can make a rough assumption on when filming will be finished. The Season 5 filming began in April 2019, so to get to the halfway mark in August means it’s taken four months to do six episodes (there are 12 in Season 5). So, that means another four months or so to go, so we’re looking at November or December 2019 to finish filming.
This matches something Diana Gabaldon said about filming. She mentioned that it would be the end of this year that filming would finish. There’s then post-production work to do, which makes the end of February the earliest that the show would likely be ready. I’m looking at March 2020 for a release date, if I’m honest.
As for the scene, well, I’m not going to share too much just now. I’m only part with through Book 5 (I intend to be finished soon but no promises there!) but my mind is running with some theories.
