Culross Palace has suffered from recent flooding in Scotland. Will this affect Outlander Season 5 filming? What about the rest of the country?

Sadly, Culross Palace has been damaged in some flooding around Fife, Scotland. The location was used as Laoghaire’s home in Outlander Season 4. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, but it is a sign of the rainy weather the country is facing right now.

Naturally, there are a lot of questions about what this means for Outlander Season 5 filming. Does this mean that the production will be delayed?

I’ll say now that I don’t think it will. You’ll hear a lot of rumors that filming will be delayed because of the rainy weather, but this isn’t entirely out of the ordinary. If you’ve watched British news for some time or you live in the country, you’ll know that bad rain and flooding can be common. Scotland isn’t immune from that.

I’ve mentioned before that the production will have planned for bad weather. There will always be contingency plans and there will always be time in the schedule for the weather to call filming plans off. Even if there was a delay, it would only be for a day or so and that would be easily made up later in the schedule. It’s not going to affect anything for filming.

Also, this is Culross Palace, which was used as the home of Laoghaire in the fourth season. Brianna found herself at the mercy of Laoghaire and Joanie after taking a trip through the stones. Whatever you thought of that decision (it was made after the production was unable to book Laura Donnelly in to reprise her role of Jenny), the location is now one to visit for Sassenachs.

There are no signs that the production is heading back to Culross Palace. We know production is heading back to Midhope Castle, which means Lallybroch will be back, but we don’t know why or who will be there. And just because they’re heading to Lallybroch doesn’t mean Laoghaire’s house will be used.

The good news about Culross Palace is that the flooding was contained. After being closed on Aug. 12, the site was reopened to the public on Aug. 13. However, the ground rooms were remained closed off to allow them time to dry out.

Plus, Kyle Rees has shared a photo of the sun shining. Hopefully, this is a sign that he’s back on set right now and that there’s more sun fighting through the clouds.
