That someone was Young Fergus. In the Outlander Season 2 finale, Fergus was sent with the deeds to Jenny. He didn’t argue, even though he wanted to be part of Culloden, a battle he would have died in. Instead, he did as he was told, something that was the most important thing for the Fraser-Murray family.
3. Seeing his bond with Murtagh grow
Something that couldn’t be developed in the novels as well (due to being through Claire or Jamie’s eyes) was the relationship between Murtagh and Young Fergus. One of the best moments of Outlander Season 2 was a collection of scenes that showed how Murtagh and Fergus took to each other and bounced off one another.
A moment that stands out was when Young Fergus complained about everything Murtagh had done, making him work hard. Jamie and Claire just laughed, knowing that Murtagh wouldn’t have forced Fergus to do anything that Murtagh wouldn’t have done himself. It was just a bit of hard work, expected for the time period.
The developing of this bond was essential for a later moment with Adult Fergus. In Outlander Season 4, Jamie sends Fergus to warn Murtagh about the plot to take down the Regulators. Had it not been for the bond development in Season 2, this wouldn’t have been the important reunion that it was.
