Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance details shared, Caitriona Balfe’s character

Netflix has shared more details about its August Original, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. We now have a name and face for Caitriona Balfe’s character.

Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will be here toward the end of August. We know that Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe is voicing one of the characters but never got to know which one. Well, Netflix has recently revealed more information about the exciting prequel series.

Set centuries before the 1982 movie, the series will tell the story of the war that led up to the events from the movie. Balfe will voice the character of Tavra. While not a main character, she will be important for the Gelfling, as the three who head out on the quest to save their world from dying.

Their world is Thra, which is dying as the Crystal of Truth — at the heart of the world and the source of untold power — has been damaged after corruption from the evil Skeksis. Sickness spreads the land and three Gelfling will need to head out on the journey to save the world and take out the Skeksis before it’s too late.

An image has been released. I had to do a double take on the image as it looked like one of the original promo images (the featured image of this post) released, but there are some subtle differences. It may just hint at the reason Balfe’s character is so important.

Netflix hasn’t detailed any information about who Tavra is, but Balfe is the fourth named Gelfling (first after the main three who will head out on the quest). She’ll be joined by Helena Bonham Carter, Natalie Dormer, Mark Hamil and many more familiar names and voices.

As well as revealing images, Netflix also shared a list of more names attached to the prequel series. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will see Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey, Doctor Strange’s and Deadly Class’ Benedict Wong, and the original movie’s Dave Goelz.
