8. Claire’s ability to survive

Jumping back to an earlier part of Outlander Season 4, we got a chance to see Claire military skills again. Her knowledge of survival came out, in a way that we saw in her trek through the jungle in the third season. And this is something I love seeing because it develops the character in a way we’d never get to see otherwise — we see her inner strength.

Claire shows that she can survive in the wilderness, at least for a night. She doesn’t question what she has to do in the storm after waking up drenched. This isn’t a woman mindlessly walking around in the hope that she’ll stumble across Jamie.

She’s smart. She finds shelter, which does lead to finding Otter Tooth’s skull. It’s a chance to see her at one of her best, and it is a stark contrast to Brianna’s inability to survive in the cold!

7. Comforting Marsali

Marsali and Claire have certainly come a long way since they were introduced to each other in Outlander Season 3. How of all the relationship developments, this is one that is one of my favorites. We have had a chance to see two people who dislike each other become close friends and almost like mother and daughter.

There were two occasions in Season 4 for Claire to comfort Marsali, and she stepped up for both of them. They were also about raising children, with Marsali making points that Claire wouldn’t understand — in an innocent way because Claire never told Marsali about Brianna.

On both occasions, Claire is able to listen, offer advice, but not take any offence. And despite hating Laoghaire, she’s also able to speak well of the woman around Marsali, which is honorable.
