Don’t worry if you don’t recognize it at first glance. It wasn’t focused on a lot during the single episode it appeared as the drama mostly happened “inside the building.” The outside of Arniston House was used as the face and lobby of Wilmington’s theater, where Claire did her life-saving hernia surgery.
Knowing that, you’ll start to picture the outside of the building, most remembered where Jamie managed to get a lift with George Washington and his wife to get to Fergus to warn Murtagh about the Redcoat trap. It was dark, so it’s easy to understand how the front of the building could initially be overlooked.
Now you can visit Arniston House to see it in its glory. It’s only 11 miles from Edinburgh, making it an easy addition to your Outlander tour. However, it’s only available to visit on certain days of the year and there is an admission charge. You can find out all the details at the official Arniston House website.
Arniston House isn’t the only location added. You can go to VisitScotland for a full list of locations, including the seasons the locations were used in!
