Outlander Book 9: How old will Jamie and Claire be?
Diana Gabaldon has shared the ages of Claire and Jamie in Outlander Book 9. Are you ready for Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone?
We’re all eagerly anticipating Outlander Book 9, titled “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,” and we all have questions. While some questions can’t be answered just yet, others can. Diana Gabaldon gave us answers to one of the questions. Just how old will Claire and Jamie be?
Gabaldon replied to a fan question on Twitter, giving Jamie’s age as 59 and Claire’s age as 64 in the novel. However, she came back a few hours later with another answer thanks to her “Noble Nitpickers.” It turns out that the ninth novel will be set in June 1779 at first, which makes Jamie and Claire 58 and 62 respectively.

Other fans later pointed out that it could depend on the version of the first novel fans have read. “Cross Stitch,” which was the name of the British version when it was initially released, was set in 1946 instead of 1945. This novel makes events with the end of the war more consistent with the real timeline, but it would have only affected Claire’s age.
What we could take from this is that the novel will span a few years, like previous novels. The first took us through the first year or so of Claire being in the past. After that, there were time jumps throughout, with the biggest being in “Voyager,” when we saw a 20-year time jump.

Of course, the big question fans want to know is when Outlander Book 9 will be released. That answer isn’t available yet, but we know it will be at some point this year.
