Outlander Season 5 casting: Why the casting call for twins won’t be the Beardsley twins

We still don’t know if the Real People Casting call for twins is linked to Outlander Season 5. However, there is strong suspicion it is. If it is, this casting call is definitely not going to be for the Beardsley twins and here’s why.

Without going into the details of who the Beardsley twins are to avoid spoilers, it’s clear that the casting call doesn’t match the characters. The casting call is for young twins, but the Beardsley twins are adults.

Considering this is for filming in April and the casting call is for two sets of twins a few months old and a year old, there isn’t time for the twins to grow up. The casting call, if it is for Outlander Season 5, is likely for children in the series.

There are two options. They could be for both Brianna and Roger’s son and for Fergus and Marsali’s son or they could be for just Brianna and Roger’s son, suggesting a time jump at some point. Since Fergus and Marsali are now at the Ridge, it’s highly likely that the sets of twins are for the former reason.

Twins will be cast for smaller children due to labor laws. The children of the two couples are in the story more from this point and that will mean more filming. Since the children can’t work for as long as adults, productions get around the limitations by hiring twins (or sometimes triplets) instead.

The Beardsley twins will likely be cast later if they haven’t been already. They do show up in “The Fiery Cross” and take on larger roles throughout the next books.
