Diana Gabaldon is currently working on Outlander Book 9. Just how many books does she have planned after? The answer may surprise you.

Outlander Book 9 is the current novel Diana Gabaldon is working on. Titled “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone,” this is going to be released at some point this year. In fact, one of the reasons the Daily Lines have been so limited is because Gabaldon is so close to the end of the novel.

But what’s after this? What comes once Book 9 is out? Well, it turns out that Gabaldon is planning more — and not just one more!

More from Outlander Fandom

While we all know that the plan at the moment is for 10 books in the series, Gabaldon has plans to write two more books after Outlander Book 9. Yes, two!

Does this mean there’s going to be a Book 11? Well, there will be but it’s not going to follow on from the 10th book. At least, that’s not the plan right now. There’s no point in saying that it never will, because Gabaldon only currently has a “sort of” idea how the story will go. She follows the characters.

The other book she has planned after the 10th is a prequel book, according to The Scotsman. This will be based on Jamie’s parents, Brian and Ellen Fraser, and set during 1715. It means no Jamie Fraser, but it does mean the story of the two starting their life together. There’s also a connection to the Jacobite uprising, as it will be set during the first uprising.

For those who miss the Scotland storyline, this prequel novel will be fun for you. It’s all set in Scotland.

Right now, there are no timings on when the novels will be written. Diana Gabaldon is working on “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.”
