Outlander Arctic wolf pups leaving Toronto Zoo for new home
If you haven’t had the chance to see the Arctic wolf pups at Toronto Zoo, you’ll want to see them this week. The pups with Outlander-inspired names are heading off to their new home.
In May 2018, six Arctic wolf pups were born in Toronto Zoo and they’ve spent almost a year growing up and showing off their howls. With names inspired from Outlander, the six pups are now getting ready to go to their new home.
The new home isn’t too far away. At some point this week (the exact date hasn’t been confirmed), Claire, Jamie, Dougal, Murtagh, Rupert, and Angus will head on a journey to Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Felicien in Quebec City. Notice all the names? Clearly, somebody at the zoo is a fan of Outlander but it is a shame one isn’t called Rollo! Arctic Rollo, maybe?

When the pups were born, they were the first at Toronto Zoo in 15 years. It was a special event and it’s certainly sad to see them move on. However, all six will remain together at the new zoo.
Throughout the last 10 months, they’ve certainly grown attached to each other. Many visitors have seen them playing peek-a-boo with each other. And for those worried about the adults seeing their babies leaving, there’s little to worry about. Because the pups are now grown, the adults no longer see them as babies and will expect them to flee the nest. Plus, both zoos will be set up to ensure the safety — physically and mentally — for the 10-month-old pups.

If you do visit Toronto Zoo, head to the Tundra Trek. The pups will be in the yard near the wolf house and you can see them clearly from the bridge over the top of their habitat. Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Felicien hasn’t said where the pups will live just yet.
