In 2017, the first two seasons of Outlander were added to Netflix Canada. Fans got to enjoy the third season on the service. Will this change now that STARZ is available through Crave?

Crave users can now add STARZ as one of the add-on subscriptions. It brings almost all STARZ Originals, with exceptions of American GodsOutlander, and a few others. The question now for Outlander fans is whether things will change in the future.

In 2017, Netflix Canada got the first two seasons of the time-traveling love story. Then, Season 3 was added in the summer of 2018. Now eyes are on the fourth season being added later this year. Yet, with the addition of STARZ on Crave, could this mean that the show won’t come to the service after all?

This will depend on the licensing agreements. Netflix and STARZ (or Lionsgate, depending on who is running the show) will have a contract to allow Netflix to stream a new season after a certain period of time. This will likely currently be in place. After all, Netflix Canada still has the show despite STARZ now being available on Crave.

So, there’s still a chance that the fourth season will end up on the streaming service. Deals tend to be for at least three years unless under special circumstances, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this current deal for Outlander on Netflix Canada lasted until 2020.

After that, the show will likely move. Those in Canada who want to watch will likely need to sign up to STARZ on Crave. The good thing about that is then new episodes would be available on the app as they would be in the United States, unlike with the current deal with Netflix.
