Outlander Season 4 Blu-ray will feature Outlander Untold scenes

While the Outlander Season 4 DVD and Blu-ray will have deleted scenes, there are also some Outlander Untold scenes to look forward to. These are very different to the standard deleted scenes.

During Outlander Season 4 filming, the production chose to do things a little differently. While there were certain scenes filmed with the intention of airing but needing to be cut out, there were others filmed without the intention of being included in the season. These Outlander Untold scenes were designed to be added to the DVD and Blu-ray, and that’s what we’re going to get in May.

There are four scenes that focus on characters that aren’t Claire and Jamie. These scenes were done with the intention to offer the boxset viewers something extra — something that they wouldn’t get anywhere else. It certainly encourages the purchase of the DVD or Blu-ray rather than just getting the digital versions or viewing through STARZ (or other streaming services around the world).

The scenes will definitely not include the leads, which means Claire and Jamie won’t be in them. It could mean that Roger and Brianna aren’t in them. From listening to the Entertainment Weekly live stream, it sounds like Lord John Grey and Willie, Marsali and Murtagh, Phaedre, and Young Ian and Lizzie are going to be the focuses in these scenes.

With the books being so long, Outlander Untold is certainly a fun initiative. There are plenty of side stories that have to go overlooked, scenes that we’d like to see but we know wouldn’t be possible. Then there are scenes that we’d love to see from the stories told but were never book storylines. For example, how did Young Ian in Rollo? That would be a fun story to see play out.

These sorts of scenes are to push the plot forward. They weren’t filmed with the intention to ever be included. Think of them more as a novella or short story within the world of Outlander.
