Outlander Season 5 has just gained two producers and it’s excellent news for the fans. Caitriona Balfe & Sam Heughan have both landed producer credits. What does this mean about their roles?
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are stepping up in the world of Outlander. As the story continues with the fifth season, the two stars who have been around from the very beginning have gained producer credits. This role for the two starts from Outlander Season 5 and fans should be excited.
Irish Times confirmed the promotion for the two during an interview with Caitriona Balfe. The publication didn’t share what this means for the production though.

For those worried about what it means for their roles, there’s no need. Being a producer doesn’t take them away from acting. Many shows’ main stars will end up being producers from around the fifth seasons. This has happened with the likes of Homeland and Charmed.
It’s actually an excellent thing for the series. Balfe and Heughan are extremely committed to their characters and the overall story. They want to deliver the best possible tale for the readers, sticking true to the books but also true to their stories. There have been times that the actors haven’t agreed with something written in for their characters (although sometimes these moments are taken directly from the books), and now they get more of a say with their producer credits.
Of course, the executive producers will still run the show. They still have the final say, but they do listen to the others around them. This is a chance for more dialogues to open up about the direction of characters, the story, and the focus on others within the series.
