What does STARZPLAY on Virgin Media mean for Outlander on Amazon Prime UK?
UK Outlander fans can currently watch the series on Amazon Prime UK. Is that going to change now that STARZPLAY is on Virgin Media?
STARZPLAY is now officially available to get on Virgin Media in the UK. It’s going to become the exclusive home for a number of STARZ Originals, which will set off alarm bells for those who watch Outlander through Amazon Prime UK. Will this cause a change to how you get to watch?
Right now, you can breathe a sign of relief. According to TV Wise in the UK, the exclusive streaming rights are for select STARZ Originals and Outlander isn’t one of them. Counterpart, Vida, and Sweetbitter are among the list of exclusively streaming shows.

So, you’ll still be able to get Claire and Jamie’s love story and adventure on a Monday on Prime Video UK after the episode airs on a Sunday. At least, for now.
Eventually, the agreement between STARZ and Amazon will come to an end. Contracts will need to be renewed and then it will be between STARZPLAY, Virgin Media, and Amazon to determine what to do moving forward. You could find that for Outlander Season 5, you’ll need the STARZPLAY through Virgin Media to watch the episodes.
There is some good news with this. The shows will become available as they do in the United States. That could mean watching the show in real time with everyone across the water, making it easier for fans to interact together and not have to avoid spoilers.
What’s not clear is what this means for STARZPLAY through Amazon Channels. If Virgin Media’s deal brings exclusive content, how does this affect the deal that Amazon Channels already has available? Will this shut down? There’s no word about that just yet.
Nor is it clear if Claire and Jamie’s tale will be available through Virgin TV at all. You’ll want to discuss this with Virgin Media if you’re considering the service. It will possibly mean the More4 deal has come to an end, though.
