Outlander Season 4, Episode 8 Inside the World shows disagreements in the writer’s room
Outlander Season 4, Episode 8 had a moment that fans are torn over: Roger leaving Brianna. It turns out this disagreement happened in the writer’s room, too. Take a look at Wilmington’s Inside the World.
During last Sunday’s episode of Outlander, Roger left Brianna. It was an action that many fans currently debate and have taken to social media to try to work out. Richard Rankin, who plays Roger, has tried to explain his thoughts on it but that doesn’t stop the disagreements. And it’s not only the fans who have disagreed.
One of the things I love about the Inside the World segments is the chance to hear the EPs’ decisions for certain moments. Roger leaving Brianna became one of those moments that needed to be discussed. After all, this was a change from the book storyline, which saw Roger only planning to leave temporarily.

There was certainly a disagreement, as Matt B. Roberts admitted that he wouldn’t have left Brianna, especially not in the time. It’s other EPs and writers that pushed for the idea that Roger would just walk away from Brianna completely. And that’s what the episode became.
One reason this part of the Inside the World is important is that it shows some of the discussions that happen in the writer’s room. While fans debate, so do the writers. Whether you like the storylines or not, these are developments based on multiple opinions about a particular part of the story. The writers are fans too.
