Outlander cast talk their first acting roles: John Bell got his start in a major show
The Outlander cast shared their first ever acting roles. While the musical Oliver is a popular one for many, it’s John Bell who wins it for me.
STARZ recently shared a video of the Outlander cast talking about their first roles. Oliver was certainly a popular production, with three of the main cast getting their first roles in the musical. However, John Bell’s role is the one that wins it for me.
I know Cesar Domboy struggled to compete with Lauren Lyle. Hers is certainly impressive and I’d love to know how old this angel was supposed to be if she could play baby Jesus at the same time, but it doesn’t quite top John Bell’s when you look into the details.

John Bell’s is one that he won during a Blue Peter competition, playing Creet in Doctor Who Season 3, Episode 11. He was just a young boy at the time, set in David Tennant’s era with Martha and Captain Jack Harkness as his companions.
Titled “Utopia,” the Doctor and his companions find themselves up against one of the Doctor’s greatest enemies, The Master. It’s all a surprise for the Doctor, as they’re in the year 100 trillion, the end of the universe and a time that no Time Lord has visited. And there’s young John Bell as Creet.
When Freema Agyeman, who played Martha, first met Bell, she thought he was a girl at first. In her defense, Bell had long hair and was still young enough to pass as a girl.

John Bell isn’t the only Outlander star to be on Doctor Who. Tobias Menzies and Simon Callow are among the list of stars that have been in Doctor Who, which was also the show that helped to create Jamie Fraser!
