Outlander Season 4 will bring us more Young Ian, along with his partner-in-crime, Rollo. To celebrate John Bell’s birthday, it’s time to look at why more Young Ian is so great.

Before we know it, Outlander Season 4 will be here and that means more Claire, Jamie, Brianna, Roger, and (most importantly) Young Ian. John Bell plays the role and is certainly going to add more humor to the season, which is something we saw in the third. To celebrate his birthday now’s the perfect chance to look at why we’re looking forward to more Young Ian in the series.

There may be some minor spoilers from the books in this post. I’m keeping everything Season 4 focused, so the spoilers will be from “Drums of Autumn.”

More from Outlander Fandom

While there are times that the serious storylines need to remain series, Outlander has a lot of scenes that need some element of comedy. Rupert and Angus gave us that in the first two seasons. Last season, we have a little from Young Ian, with Roger also offering some at the start of the season.

Season 4 will see Young Ian add even more. We see it in the very first episode, including when we meet Rollo for the first time, but judging by the trailer there is going to be plenty more to come.

The best thing is the comedy isn’t forced. In many cases, Young Ian makes a statement of fact. It’s just well placed that you can’t help but chuckle.
