This episode didn’t just see Geillis return. Another familiar face made his way back to the screen and it seems fitting that it’s this week that will see him return once more. Yes, it’s all about Lord John Grey.

In an effort to find Young Ian, Jamie, Claire, Fergus, and Marsali headed to the Jamaican Governor’s ball. And who happened to be the governor? Well, it’s Lord John Grey and that leads to an emotional reunion between John and Jamie. There’s also some tension between John and Claire, as they finally come face-to-face again after all these years — remember, John was the young kid who wanted to protect Claire’s honor.
The big focus for the episode was Geillis finally getting the three sapphires together to find out the big prophecy. Margaret Campbell shared all about the 200-year-old baby, which didn’t make sense at first. It wouldn’t make any sense at all for Geillis until the finale a week later.
Overall, the episode was a relatively strong one. Claire witnessed the slaver’s market for the first time, bringing the whole situation to life for us. It was horrific and Claire soon found herself an unwilling owner of a slave, who was later allowed to go free with other escaped slaves.
The major downside to the episode was Jamie being arrested at the end of the episode. Fortunately, we got one of the best moments of the whole series in the following episode because of this.
