Love or hate Outlander’s Lady Geneva Dunsany, Hannah James knocked the role out of the park. Now she’s joining Supergirl as Nia Nal’s sister.
There are lots of thoughts about Geneva Dunsany, and certainly not all bad, but Hannah James managed to steal every scene she was in during Outlander Season 3. Now it’s time for her to continue that with her upcoming role on Supergirl.
The British-American actress has landed the role of Nia Nal’s sister, according to Deadline. She’ll guest star opposite Grey’s Anatomy alum Kate Burton, who will play the Nal sisters’ mother.

Very little is known about the two characters. James’ character is called Maeve Nal and is focused on ensuring the Nal family’s legacy is upheld. While there is a sisterly bond between Maeve and Nia, it’s clear that Maeve works hard to achieve everything Nia has.
Those who have been used to seeing the somewhat cold, standoffish, and spoiled rich girl Geneva may be happy to see James in a very different role. Maeve is still driven and focused, but I don’t think we’ll see her blackmail a man into taking her virginity.
Likewise, those who are used to seeing Burton play the cold, distant, work-driven mother to Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy will be happy to hear that the character is different. Burton plays Isabel Nal, a local hero, and a warm and nurturing mother. We can expect to see plenty of scenes between the three actresses in Supergirl Season 4.
Deadline doesn’t share when the two will join the cast. Nicole Maines became the first transgender actress to take on the role of a transgender superhero. The transition from Nia to Dreamer is still to take place, so this could be how James and Burton fit into the storyline.
