The Outlander Season 4, Episode 2 ratings are in. The demo and total viewers Live + Same Day ratings have taken a sharp decline but what does this mean for the series?

Live + Same Day ratings for Outlander Season 4, Episode 2 are in and things aren’t looking great. After a drop between the two season premieres, the show took another drop in both the key demo and total viewers. What does this mean for the future of the series?

First of all, these ratings are only the Live + Same Day that TV Series Finale reports from the Nielsen ratings. These don’t take into account any of the STARZ app viewers or any delayed viewings, and that’s an important note to make. The total viewers dropped 19.59% from last week to 0.870 million and the demo (the 18-49-year-olds) ratings dropped 38.10% to 0.13.

Now we’ve got the bad news out of the way, it’s time to look at some good news. We know that Outlander has been renewed for the fifth and sixth seasons. This means that the live ratings can take a dip.

More good news is that out of all the STARZ shows, Outlander sits third on the list. Granted some of the shows on the list have been canceled already (Ash vs. Evil Dead) or are getting ready to air their second seasons next month (Counterpart), but it’s still good news.

Power and American Gods are the only two shows to sit above Claire and Jamie’s story. Keep in mind that American Gods‘ figures are taken from its first season and its still to air its second, which will be early next year. So this could change soon. Unlike other networks, it’s hard to compare STARZ program ratings because they all air at different times of the year.

Because we don’t know the STARZ app views, it’s hard to made a decision over these ratings. I can’t tell if the ratings are overly good or bad. With STARZ moving into the top five of VOD sites, it suggests that more people are watching through the app instead of live on the network, which is good news for the show and for the company.

We can only hope, right?
