While at dinner to show off her ruby to make a sale, Claire was asked about her hairstyle. There was just one look that Claire gave and immediately, the woman complimented her on the style.
Claire has a way with her looks. She always has from the first episode and it’s easy to tell what she means most of the time. In this case, she was encouraging the woman at the table to say something bad about the hairstyle.

At the very beginning of the episode, the Frasers needed a way to bury Hayes in a cemetery. They went out in the dead of night and it all looked like it would go smoothly. And then Stephen Bonnet turned up.
After some flattery and conning, Bonnet was able to get the Frasers to give him a ride past the checkpoints. Immediately, Claire put herself at risk and there was absolutely no argument. In this moment, she showed that she was willing to sacrifice herself but think ahead. As she said, a husband and wife traveling would be far less suspicious than Jamie going on his own.
