When it happened: Season 1, Episode 7

Any tension between Claire and Jamie? There was some tension but more due to nerves than anything else.

Why it’s the best: Was there really going to be another moment that would take the top spot? I’ll be honest and say that I was surprised it wasn’t included in the TV Time poll results. The wedding night is one of the most talked about moments and it certainly is the greatest moment throughout the whole series for this couple.

There was such a buildup to this. The two had to find their way to each other. Through glances and touches, they build their connection.

However, it’s not just about the buildup but the way the two interact. Jamie wants to make sure Claire is ready for their night. In a way, she’s acting like the virgin, the one unsure of what’s to come and how to do things. She stalls to prepare to consummate their relationship.

And Jamie gives her that time in a loving and kind way. Any other man would have taken what was considered his property, but Jamie gives his wife time, showing that he wants them to be equals.

Then there is the moment they connect physically. Jamie wants to learn from Claire to make sure he pleases her. Another sign of equality and love, the two build their bond on love and trust, something that continues to this very day.
