As STARZ ramps up promotion for Outlander Season 4, the cast shared what family and home mean to them. What do they mean to you?

Family and home are the two themes for Outlander Season 4. This was made clear very early in the production of the series and it’s an important element in the books. Claire and Jamie have been on the go for so many years, they finally get the chance to settle down together.

As STARZ adds more promotion for the time-traveling series, the cast share what they feel family and home mean to them. John Bell is definitely the sweetest, sharing that he has an incredibly supportive family. You can hear the lump in his throat as he talks about them, making it clear they mean the world.

Caitriona Balfe shares that she’s a gypsy, traveling the world since she was 18. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t view home and family as anything, but it’s certainly not a physical location for her.

Honestly, that’s similar to my view. I have family scattered around the world and moved around a lot from the age of 16. Home is where my heart is. I’ll still often say I’m going home when I’m going to visit my parents. But then I’ll say I’m going home when I’m going to my current physical address. It confuses people but makes sense in my head and suggests my meaning of home.

As for family, I don’t just view family as blood. There are people I view as aunts and uncles who aren’t blood-related. They’re close friends of parents, who have been closer to me than my blood relatives have ever been. I have more of a Supernatural view when it comes to family, and really that’s a view Outlander takes. Family doesn’t just end with blood and it doesn’t start there either.

The featurette is a beautiful look at what’s to come this season. It certainly gets me excited for the fourth season in full.
