Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe couldn’t be at Outlander New Jersey con personally. However, the made sure fans didn’t completely miss out.

It looks like Wizard World Chicago isn’t the only convention looking to ease the blow for disappointed fans. Creation managed to get both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe at Outlander New Jersey con virtually.

Sure, it’s not quite the same thing. However, when it comes to the panels it is definitely better than nothing. It made up partially for them not being there in person. And since it was Skype and not pre-recorded, the two stars were able to answer questions from the fans.

More from Outlander News

During the surprise panels at the weekend, Heughan shared about working with his co-stars and talked a little about My Peak Challenge. He also talked about Jamie and that aging transition over last season and into this season. There’s still more aging to come!

As for Caitriona, she discussed about Claire’s transition over Outlander Season 4 and her most difficult scenes to film. She also engaged with fans and answered other burning questions.

This may give people some idea of what to expect at Wizard World Chicago this weekend with Sam Heughan. He has to be there virtually due to filming in South Africa. The good news is that he got his passport back today, but the filming schedule is still a conflict, especially with the flights!

The Outlander New Jersey con wasn’t just about the main stars, either. Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton teased a few things to come from their characters this season. They’ve not been included in much of the promotional work for Outlander Season 4, but we do know that both will take a journey through the stones at some point.

Former (and some current) cast members also took to the stage to talk about their storylines, things they’re doing now, and what’s to come for some of them. David Berry was able to talk about Lord John Grey and that special bond with Jamie, while Lotte Verbeek shared what she’s looking forward to happening in the future.

Gillbride MacMillan also took to the stage to sing the beautiful “The Woman of Belnain” to the audience. Creation certainly made the right choice to invite him along.
