Creation Ent con-goers aren’t the only ones disappointed by schedule changes. Wizard World Chicago will now see some major changes to the Outlander-heavy lineup.
Outlander fans have already been disappointed about stars canceling their appearances at Creation Ent conventions. They’re not the only ones. We’d hoped it wouldn’t come to this but now Wizard World Chicago will see a few changes to its Outlander-heavy weekend.
The good news is these aren’t outright cancellations. However, they’re not what people hoped to see when they bought tickets.

Caitriona Balfe is now attending on the Thursday due to scheduling conflicts. The news dropped on the day the actress also canceled her appearance at Outlander New Jersey con. It looks like there’s been a change in the filming of the Ford vs. Ferrari feature film and that’s caused a conflict with the conventions.
There will still be panels, autographing, and photo ops with the star. However, this will be on a different day. If you don’t have tickets for the Thursday but got an autograph opportunity, you can pick up a pre-signed photo on the day. It’s not the same, as you go to meet the stars, but it’s better than absolutely nothing, right?
As for Sam Heughan, he is currently stuck in South Africa. It turns out he has no passport at the moment as the visa office has it, so even if his filming schedule allowed, he wouldn’t be able to fly over. There is a consolation prize on the Friday.
Fans will get to do a Skype call in a small group and a private panel on the Friday night of Wizard World Chicago. If you bought his autograph, you can also get pre-signed items.
This is much better than just a straight out lack of the stars at Outlander New Jersey con. It’s still not everything people wanted, but there are some positives.
Even better news is that all Outlander stars will now be at Wizard World Chicago on Thursday as well as their other dates. That means you’ll get to see Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Graham McTavish, Lotte Verbeek, and Herself (Diana Gabaldon) on Thursday as well as the Saturday/Sunday (or both days for some).
What do you think about Wizard World Chicago attempting to make the weekend still Outlander heavy? Are you disappointed or happy that something has been done to help Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan be there in a way? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Wizard World Chicago is on August 23-26, 2018. There is still time to get tickets.
