Duncan Lacroix quietly removed himself from Twitter. While Outlander fans want to see him return, it turns out that he likes the non-social life. Has Murtagh taken over?

Duncan Lacroix has a special place in the hearts of Outlander fans around the world. Knowing what was supposed to happen to Murtagh at the start of the third season, many of us were pleasantly surprised to find out this was one of the changes the show made. However, Lacroix has quietly removed himself off Twitter and it looks like it’s going to stay that way. Maybe he’s been taken over by the hairy, loveable, somewhat unsociable Highlander.

It’s nothing personal to the Outlander fans. Lacroix just seems to prefer the quieter life away from the noise of Twitter. That’s understandable. It’s easy to feel this need to respond to notifications but not actually want to talk to anybody.

So, as much as we’d love to have Duncan back on Twitter, it’s not going to happen for the time being.

The topic came up while Graham McTavish started promoting the crowdfunding campaign for his new upcoming movie (and his directorial debut). One fan suggested they would donate $125 for Duncan Lacroix to return to Twitter. McTavish politely responded so that everyone could find out what the plan is in the near future.

Whatever his reasons for leaving Twitter should be respected. The social media site can certainly be brutal. While there were plenty of people who love Duncan, there are others who may have been negative towards him because it seems like people believe because Twitter can be anonymous they get to say what they want without consequences. It’s a shame that it happens, but Duncan has done the best thing for him by taking himself out of the sphere.

We still don’t know just how much of Murtagh we’ll get in Outlander Season 4; if we’ll get anything at all. The character was killed off at Culloden in the novels, so this is going to be completely original material unless he just takes over another character’s appearance in the novels.
