Outlander’s Tom Brittney joins ITV drama Grantchester
If you love to keep an eye on former Outlander cast members, then you’ll be interested in Grantchester Season 4. Tom Brittney joins the series as Reverend Will Davenport.
Outlander is full of guest stars. Some of them stick around for full seasons, while others make an impact with their 1-2 episode appearances. The latter is the case for Tom Brittney, who you’ll remember as Lieutenant Jeremy Foster in the first and second season of the series.
If you’re not great with character names, Brittney was the kindhearted British soldier who wanted to make sure Claire was safe during “Rent.” He was then spotted at the Battle of Prestonpans when he asked Dougal for help after being severely injured. Rather than take him back to Claire for treatment, Dougal decided to kill him on the battlefield.

Brittney will take on the role of Reverend Will Davenport in Granchester Season 4. He’s effectively taking over James Norton’s role in the series and will become the crime-solving partner to Geordie Keating, played by Robson Green.
It’s another period drama for Brittney, as the series is set in the 1950s. While it airs on ITV in Britain (and is a British drama), it airs on PBS in the United States.
There are absolutely no ill-feelings from Norton about Brittney taking on this role. While he’s sad to say goodbye to Sidney Chambers, he’s excited to move onto other chapters in his life and excited to see how Will Davenport becomes part of the series. Norton will leave during the season, so there’s going to be a handover period.
We’re certainly excited to see an Outlander actor coming into the show.
