Outlander has been put forward for Emmy considerations in multiple categories. One of those is Best Actress and here’s why Caitriona Balfe certainly deserves the Emmy nod.

With Outlander put forward for consideration of a number of Emmy Awards, it’s high time the show gets recognition. One of the categories we hope to see a nomination is Best Actress. Caitriona Balfe has shown time and time again that she deserves it. While Outlander Season 3 didn’t see anything on the level of “Faith” from the second season, Balfe still proved her acting abilities.

There are a number of episodes that come to mind that show why Balfe is deserving of an Emmy. Two of the episodes are when she’s separated from Jamie in the 18th century, looking for a way back to him.

Everything with Elias Pound

More from Caitriona Balfe

When Claire was forced to remain on the ship of sick men, she found an ally in Elias Pound. Just a young boy, he was the highest ranking officer behind the acting captain. He would become the person to ask questions, offer advice, and learn all about caring for the sick. In the end, Elias came down with the sickness that had terrorized the ship, becoming the last victim.

It was heartbreaking to watch. Balfe gave it her all and we couldn’t help but cry alongside her as she said goodbye to Pound one last time. But it wasn’t this moment that proved her worthy of the Emmy nod. It was the moment she helped Elias die in peace. She became his mother for a short time, giving him comfort as he took his last breaths; something we’d seen her do before and something we know she wished she could do when Angus died during Outlander Season 2’s “Prestonpans.” She didn’t encourage Elias to fight the illness and was there for him when he needed her the most.

Of course, the final scene and the goodbye just continued the proof that Balfe deserves the Emmy nod. She made sure he went with the rabbit’s foot to give him luck in the afterlife.
