Fun and laughter on Outlander set all Caitriona Balfe’s fault
Funny stories come from all filming sets. When it comes to the Outlander fun and laughter, it turns out it’s always Caitriona Balfe’s fault.
Every good film and TV set will be full of fun and laughter. Cast members that get on well with each other will always find things to laugh and joke about. Outlander is no exception. You’ll notice that from the outtakes in the gag reels for each season. The cast members certainly love to have fun. However, when asked about the stories from the set, Sam Heughan claims they’re all Caitriona Balfe’s fault.
It turns out that Balfe struggles to contain her laughter. Something will happen that makes her giggle and that can set the rest of the cast off. The downside is how this can ruin takes and the crew ends up staying late, while Balfe, Heughan, and others control themselves. This then just makes it harder, so the laughter continues.

Heughan says that he can never remember the funny stories from set. They all happen in the context of the moment and without the context it’s hard to remember why they laughed so much.
There is one story that he could remember and it was all to do with swans and croissants. It sounds like this happened sometime in Outlander Season 1 or 2, as Grant O’Rourke was mentioned. The video below has the full story that Heughan remembers. While it does sound fun, it also sounds like one you had to be there for and will bring the cast and crew plenty of happy memories.
