John Bell cancels TEDxYouth talk due to Outlander filming

Outlander Season 4 is still filming and it looks like a schedule change may have come up. John Bell shared his disappointment that he would no longer be able to attend the TEDxYouth talk in Glasgow.

Sam Heughan isn’t the only Outlander actor needing to cancel pre-arranged talks and convention appearances. Just like Young Ian likes to follow in Uncle Jamie’s footsteps, John Bell is following in Heughan’s. The young actor took to Twitter on Thursdays to share the disappointment that he would not be able to attend the TEDxYouth Glasgow event after all due to Outlander filming.

Bell was originally going to attend to talk about overcoming rejection. It’s something that we all face in life, whatever interests we have. This is also a topic that Bell has experience in as an actor. He does say that he hopes to be able to deliver the talk at next year’s conference instead.

TEDxYouth Glasgow took place yesterday. Either scheduling had to be changed or there was hope that Bell would be able to jump from one event to another. He didn’t say anything until on the day, which suggests that this was a very last minute change and filming just didn’t quite go to plan. Considering they’re filming around Glasgow at the moment, it wouldn’t have been difficult for him to go from filming to the talk. He’d have been able to turn up in costume and everyone would have loved it!

The change was so sudden and last minute that Bell was still listed as a guest speaker on the day of the event. Here’s hoping that next year works out better–although not because Bell isn’t in Outlander Season 5!

Many were understandably disappointed. However, the comments on his tweet to announce he wouldn’t be there were all kind and thoughtful. It really was a case of just bad timing.
