Why wasn’t Sam Heughan at the Golden Globes with Caitriona Balfe?
Outlander fans noticed Sam Heughan didn’t attend the Golden Globes with his co-star
All eyes were on the Outlander stars for the Golden Globes, but there was somebody missing. Sam Heughan wasn’t at the event. Even though he hadn’t been nominated for Best Actor (much against fans’ expectations and beliefs), our beloved Jamie didn’t attend the event to support his co-star. Was this a snub towards the awards ceremony? Maybe it was partially out of jealousy? Well, it was neither.
Heughan wasn’t there for one main reason: he was back in Scotland. That’s right, Outlander Season 4 is filming again and Heughan was needed for his parts. Balfe would have been there had it not been for her nomination at the Golden Globes. Rather than taken her co-star, her new fiancé attended the event.

Despite fans expecting Heughan to be a little jealous, he has been nothing but encouraging and supportive on social media. Just like the Outlander crew, Heughan took to Twitter to congratulate his co-star on the nomination last year and then to share his hopes that she would win. There is nothing but love when it comes to the two stars of the show.
The two did party together before the awards show, while Outlander filming was still on a break. However, Heughan was needed back on set. Since the two have scenes separately, does this mean Claire and Jamie will be separated for some time in Season 4 or are there just a handful of scenes with other people? Many fans hope that it doesn’t mean prolonged periods apart, especially after that time apart at the beginning of Season 3.

Balfe will join her co-star for filming this week. She will be doing this while ill, as she stated she was feeling under the weather at the Golden Globes. Maybe she can use some of Claire’s tricks to feel better in time for filming.
