Outlander EPs already in talks for season 5
Outlander EPs don’t want a Droughtlander like last time, which is why there are already talks for season 5.
The Droughtlander between seasons 2 and 3 was hard for all fans. Most TV shows run yearly, usually starting around the same date. However, Outlander fans had to put up with a 14-month gap between the season 2 finale and the season 3 premiere. The showrunners don’t want to see something like that again, which is why talks for season 5 are already in the works.
Wait, why season 5? Well, season 4 has already been confirmed. The cast and crew are currently at work filming it in Scotland (despite the fourth season being set in North Carolina) and there are plans to air the season n September 2018. It’s after season 4 that fans have no idea about.

Sony wants to tell all Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander works
There are many fans worried about not getting the full Outlander series as a TV adaptation. The show is currently working book-by-book, with season 3 based on Diana Gabaldon’s third book, “Voyager.” Season 4 will be based on “Drums of Autumn.” With this in mind, Outlander season 5 will likely be based on “The Fiery Cross.”
Sony TV’s co-president of programming, Chris Parnell, has confirmed that he would like to see all of Gabaldon’s adapted for screen. This could mean 10 seasons of the show by the time Gabaldon has finished, as she predicts book 10 will be the last. She still has to write books 9 and 10.
Fans have mixed reactions. While they want to see all the works adapted, there are many complaining about the changes to the books in the most recent season. Some of the changes are so major that they will change factors in the later books and that understandably worries fans.
Discussions now to avoid Droughtlander
Most TV shows wouldn’t even consider discussing future seasons until nearing the end of a current one. However Outlander is slightly different. The Starz series takes a long time to write, film, and edit. If Sony, the show EPs, and Starz don’t start talking about season 5 now, there is a chance that another Droughtlander will take place.
Nobody wants that to happen, so talks are already in the works. A renewal is likely considering season 3 is currently averaging higher ratings that season 2. With two episodes left, fans may not hear before the end of the season but possibly before the season 4 premiere.
