Many episodes will leave you with questions. What if the Outlander writers were willing to answer questions?

Outlander Season 3 has had plenty of question from the fans. Episode 9 was no exception and that’s understandable considering the deleted scene. But that’s not the only part of the episode fans have questions about.

The Outlander writers take to Twitter to answer as many questions as they can during the week. Most recently they’ve answered questions about “The Doldrums,” including an important one about Sam Heughan climbing that mast!

More from Claire and Jamie

Yes, Heughan and James Allenby-Kirk did climb the mast themselves. There were safety harnesses at the time, which were removed in the editing phase of production.

That beautiful writing on the ship’s deck was real Chinese poetry. The writers even shared the translation to the poetry.

As for the inclusion of “Goodnight Moon” in the episode, the Outlander writers also shared who came up with that idea. Yes, it was a beautiful touch to the episode, especially for parents who read it a lot to their children.
