Outlander Season 3, Episode 10 sneak peek: Why does Captain Raines confine Jamie?
Fans learned that Jamie will be confined below deck on Outlander Season 3, Episode 10. The sneak peek for the episode explains why.
During the Season 3, Episode 10 promo, fans couldn’t help but scream at Jamie being arrested yet again. Well, not quite arrested, but he is being seized and placed below deck. It’s clearly for the safety of the crew, but the sneak peek shows exactly why Captain Raines believes this is necessary.
After seeing the British ship sail away, Jamie looks through a telescope to find Claire is still onboard. He wants the Artemis to follow them at full speed, but Captain Raines disagrees with that. Considering the wind, it isn’t safe to follow them with full sails. They need to make their way to Jamaica in the way planned.

Why is the British ship going so quickly? The British have a crew of 100 sick and dying sailors, with likely more to follow. They need land a lot sooner than the Artemis and they definitely need a surgeon.
On top of that, Captain Raines makes a point in saying that you never argue with the British Navy. When the Navy asks for something, you let it have whatever it is. Right now that means Claire due to her medical knowledge.
When Jamie attacks, Captain Raines has no choice but to seize the passenger and have him placed below deck. Going after the ship and attacking the captain puts the crew in danger, and the captain definitely doesn’t want that. A passionate man with a purpose is sometimes a dangerous man. There is definitely more to think about than Claire at this moment.
