For those who have missed the news about this Outlander prequel series, it follows the love story of both Ellen and Brian and Julia and Henry. Yes, we get the story of the parents of both Claire and Jamie, and only one of those stories we know a little bit about already.
The storylines are likely set 202 years apart from each other, as we previously mentioned at ClaireandJamie.com, which is an important time frame for the world of Outlander. However, which years exactly will we spend time in during this period drama?
When is Ellen and Brian's story set in Outlander: Blood of My Blood?
While Outlander: Blood of My Blood hasn't been 100% clear, we know that part of the story has to take place in 1715. That's when the Gathering at Leoch takes place, leading to Ellen MacKenzie running away with Brian Fraser.
There's a chance that we'll see a bit of time just before the Gathering, which could take us to late 1714 at first. However, for the most part, we're sure to start off in 1715 and see how the courtship developed. While we know Brian and Ellen eloped after the Gathering, we don't know how long they knew each other and secretly dated before that.
When is Julia and Henry's story set in the Outlander prequel?
We know that Claire is born in October 1918, which means that Henry and Julia have to be together by the start of 1918. Considering they're in the middle of World War I, it's likely that the story will take place around 1917, which then puts us 202 years apart from Jamie's parent's story.
Of course, it is possible that we see when they initially meet a little earlier. With World War I ravaging Europe, it's certainly likely that we'll get a bit of a rush when it comes to the love story. Many at the time felt like the world could end at any moment, especially for those being sent to the frontline. We have photos of Henry in uniform in the Trenches, so there would have needed to be time to start a romance that would lead to them writing letters to each other.
