The Gathering 2024 is just around the corner. If this is your first Sasnak City event, you’re sure to have a lot of questions. One of those is all about what to wear.

You want to look good. This is where you’re getting a lot of photos done, and you want to make sure you have positive memories forever. At the same time, you need to think about the weather and the environment.

Rule #1 for The Gathering 2024: Be comfortable

When it comes to clothing choices, I follow one simple rule. Make sure you’re comfortable.

This isn’t the time for breaking in those new heels. Wear shoes that you know fit well and that you can last in throughout the day. Hey, if you’re a person who does heels every day, that’s great! Enjoy! For me, it’s all about comfortable sneakers.

There is a fair bit of walking around involved. It’s not too much compared to bigger conventions, but you’ll be stood in some lines for a while and you’ll want to walk around to see the vendors. The vendor area is in a more cobbly part of the World War I Museum, so it’s not easy to walk on in heels.

When it comes to clothing, I’d stick to T-shirts and vest tops with some comfortable jeans or leggings. I’ve done shorts for summer events, but The Gathering 2024 is the middle of November, and it can be cold in Kansas City!

Have a sweater for the panels

I always take a sweater or a throw for the panels. The auditorium can get rather chilly, especially at the start. It’s also worth having one for the rooms where the meet and greets are, as they can be on the chillier side.

Of course, when you’re in the main seating area chatting to fellow Sasnak Sisters and Brothers, you’ll find it gets on the warmer side. There are chairs to sit on, so pop your sweater on the chair and just pick it up for the cooler areas of the event.

What about cosplay or dressing up?

You don’t need to do cosplay at a Sasnak City event. Not many people do, but if you want to, go for it! Nobody is going to judge you! In fact, we’ll love complementing you on the hard work you’ve put in.

What about dressing up, though? Fraser’s Ridge ticket holders may want to take an outfit for Turtle Soup. You can change while at the venue. This is something a lot of people choose to do because they want to look good for the selfies on the night.

On the Saturday night, you’ll need to leave the venue and come back for the evening activities. This will mean you have time to head back to your hotel and get changed if you want. Whether you change is completely up to you. Some people like to stick in what they are wearing throughout the day just to remain comfortable, while others want to put on a different outfit.

Nobody is going to judge your choices. And if they do, well, they get a stern talking to.

The Gathering 2024 takes place between Thursday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 17.
