Call the Midwife season 14 will premiere on PBS at the end of the month, but you can already watch some of the episodes via streaming. All you need is PBS Passport!
PBS wants you to enjoy its shows in a way that suits you. PBS Passport is a streaming platform available to anyone in the United States for a small additional cost. There are some limitations to PBS Passport, though, and we’ll get into them.
How to stream Call the Midwife season 14 early
According to PBS’s official website, those with PBS Passport are able to stream episodes 30 days before they air on the network. This means Episode 1 was made available on Friday, Feb. 28, and Episode 2 was available seven days later. This is going to happen throughout the season.
You’ll want to start watching the episodes now, though. Don’t wait for the full season to be available, because there is a catch to PBS Passport.
Episodes aren’t available after they air on PBS
Call the Midwife episodes are removed from PBS Passport as they air on the network. After this, the episodes are made available on PBS.org and on the app on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android phones, iPhones, iPads, Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast, and Android TV for free. This is all linked to licensing needs.
So, if you do happen to miss the first couple of episodes on PBS Masterpiece, there will be the ability to stream them on PBS.org and then get Passport for the rest of the season, watching a week at a time.
There is an exception for the Call the Midwife holiday specials
If you think that you can use this to your advantage for the next holiday special, there is some bad news. The holiday specials don’t air in advance, and this is linked to the way they are released around the globe. The BBC in the UK is always going to be the first to get the show considering it’s their own series.
However, the holiday specials are available on PBS Passport afterward. They are also available on PBS.org and the app.
Call the Midwife season 14 officially premieres on Sunday, March 30 at 8/7c on PBS.
