As we inch toward the midway point of The Summer I Turned Pretty’s final season, there has to be a sign that things are going to turn upside for Jeremiah and Belly. The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 5 has that moment.

All Belly wants is to get everything needed for the rushed wedding, but she doesn’t want to do it alone. When Taylor’s mom needs her help, Taylor has to apologize to Belly, and while that’s annoying, it’s not the end of the world. Jeremiah still promised to take Belly to Michael’s to get everything that was needed.
Of course, it all goes wrong, which isn't too surprising after events like The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 4. Jeremiah is so tunnel-visioned on work that he doesn’t see the problems he’s causing Belly.
Adam finally praises Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty
It’s hard to absolutely hate Jeremiah, because the reasons he can’t do much for Belly is because of work. He’s finally proving to his dad that he’s not a screw up, and Adam even praises him in this episode. In fact, the praise goes so far to let Jeremiah use the club for the wedding and Adam will take care of it financially.
That’s great, but Jere doesn’t tell Belly this. So, Belly is still thinking that they need to scrimp together the little bit of money that they have to make the perfect wedding.
When it comes to the cake, Belly seems to just crumple from everything. Jeremiah has given her specific wants for a cake, but when she talks to a bakery, she learns that the price is out of budget. Jeremiah doesn’t want to budge on anything, but he doesn’t tell her that the money won’t be an issue now. This lack of communication is what will cause problems for them later.
Conrad saves the day in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 5
Despite originally saying he wouldn’t give her a ride to Michael’s, Conrad ends up seeing Belly leaving the bakery with just some cupcakes. He decides to take her to Michael’s after all, as she threatens to completely break down over the way his brother is acting.
This leads to the two having a lot of fun, and it’s clear that Conrad isn’t over Belly. He’s trying to be respectful of Belly and Jeremiah, but his heart pines for Belly, and we see so many moments in their time together grabbing all the supplies for the decorations.
This gives Conrad time to reflect on the past. What if he didn’t push Belly away four years ago? How much would that have changed things now? Well, it would have changed a lot, because Jeremiah wouldn’t have swooped his girl up.
Jeremiah ends up turning up at Cousins at the end of the day, and Conrad thinks back to his final moments with Susannah. He promised to take care of Jeremiah and everyone else, but his broken heart is making that almost impossible. Is there any way this can change?
