After the bombshell of the proposal at the end of the previous episode, it’s all steam ahead with wedding planning in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 4. However, not everyone is on board.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 4.
At the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 3, Belly dropped the bombshell that she and Jeremiah are engaged. On top of that, she said that they would get married in August. That’s just six weeks away, and that’s not a lot of time for anyone to get used to the idea.

Belly realizes her mom may not be there in The Summer I Turned Pretty
Belly tries to get her mom in on the idea of marrying Jere, but Laurel can’t do it. She won’t even go wedding dress shopping with her daughter, which is supposed to be a huge right of passage for any mother and daughter. Instead, Taylor and her mom head out dress shopping instead, and they have to go prom dress shopping as Belly can’t afford any of the wedding dresses.
This is when Belly starts to question things slightly. How can she get married without Laurel there? It will mean neither of their moms are at the wedding, and Belly isn’t sure she can do that.
Jere tries to help, but Laurel makes it clear that she thinks the two of them should wait until after college. It makes sense. They can have a long engagement, especially considering the problems they have had over the last three years. Why rush to get married?

Jeremiah starts an internship in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, episode 4
Meanwhile, Jeremiah is starting an internship. Adam, his dad, has decided to give in a little, but it’s clear that it’s more out of duty than want. This man is the worst father in the series, and I really need to see someone knock some sense into him.
Jeremiah feels awkward in the internship, and it pulls him away from Belly. In fact, Belly hates that they are so far apart now and then again after their wedding, that she decides to cancel her plans for Paris. Belly needs to not put her life on hold for a man. Listen to Taylor!
Nobody seems to find out what Belly has done yet, so I’m waiting for the fallout in the next episode. Someone needs to make it clear that she can’t keep dropping everything for Jeremiah. Even Jeremiah probably wouldn’t want that.
Steven looks into Taylor’s mom’s financial issues
While all this is going on, Steven continues to help Taylor’s mom. The salon is bleeding money, and now he’s got to the bottom of why. The Steve guy that she worked with has made a mess of everything.
The question now is whether there is a way out of this. Sometimes, a business needs to close just to be able to get out of a mess that someone else has caused. Steven and Taylor won’t want this, though, and I know that Steven will do is best to help Taylor’s mom. Will it lead to them getting back together?
At the end of the episode, Conrad decides that he will be Jeremiah’s best man. While Laurel isn’t going to be there, Conrad will, but it’s clear that he wants to be with Belly. How is all of this going to turn up on its head?
