Michael makes it to Le Comte St. Germain’s house in The Space Between section 34. Sadly, it’s not in time to rescue Joan from his clutches.

I have to wonder how much the butler knows in this story. He is reluctant to let Michael into the house, which would make sense for any butler in a way. They’re going to protect their masters, but does he know what Le Comte is actually up to? I want to know more.

Breaking down The Space Between Section 34

The section starts with Michael rushing to the door across the street and pounding on it. Naturally, the butler doesn’t want to let him in. However, as Michael sees the rosary and broken glass on the ground from the window above, he knows that he needs to get in. And he will resort to fists if he needs to fight his way in.

He manages to get through to the kitchen, but it’s too late. Le Comte has already left with Joan in his grasp. The two are in Le Comte’s carriage, and this is where we see Michael think on the spot. A lot of people would initially run after the carriage in the hope of catching up to it, but Michael knows that that would be in vain.

So, instead, Michael heads back to his own coach. It’s time for a coach chase through the streets of Paris. I would love to see this play out!

Could the section be used in a TV adaptation?

If The Space Between was adapted, I would certainly expect this section to be used. There is a lot of action and drama going on in this chapter. We need to see it all play out, as Michael races to get to Joan. You can feel the fear coming from him throughout this section.

Of course, I would love to see a coach chase through the streets. This would be so entertaining, watching how the carriage drivers navigate the streets. There is also this need to know if Michael will get to Joan in time. There’s so much excitement to this section, and the TV series would need it.
