One Game of Thrones actor was happy with their character's ending (and we agree)

It’s never easy to get the ending of a show just right. Some people will love it, while others will hate it. Game of Thrones did have more people on the latter side of things, but there were some good elements that came out of the finale.

We can talk all we want about how the White Walkers should have been the biggest villain of the series, and we can discuss the Mad Queen storyline in the finale. However, there are positives to take from this series. With the development that one particular character had, it’s not surprising that the actor who played that role was happy with the way things played out.

Sophie Turner is happy with Sansa Stark’s ending on Game of Thrones

While speaking with The Direct about her upcoming show Steal, Sophie Turner discussed the possibility of coming back to the universe. While most of the Game of Thrones spinoffs are prequels, there is talk of the odd sequel. Turner would be interested in coming back for a Sansa sequel, and part of that is because she’s happy about the way things ended for her character.

She notes that a lot of people weren’t happy with the way things ended for their characters. We can see why, especially with deaths happening that we didn’t quite see being a thing and prophecies not quite playing out. However, Sansa was always working toward something bigger.

From the beginning of the series, she wanted to be a queen. Little did she know with all the horror and trauma that she would go through, she would get that dream. It wasn’t quite what she expected, as she didn’t marry a prince and end up becoming a queen consort. Instead, she became a queen in her own right back in her home of Winterfell.

The Game of Thrones season 8 finale saw the north break away from the Seven Kingdoms. As Bran Stark became the King of the Six Kingdoms, Sansa Stark became Queen of the North, something that was satisfying for all.

Could a Sansa Stark sequel happen?

If given the opportunity, Turner has said that she could consider coming back for a sequel. However, she also made it clear that she would need to see the script first. She wouldn’t just come back for a good paycheck, as the magic can’t just be recreated with the flick of a switch.

The question is what the story would be about. While we would love to see Sansa Stark rule as Queen of the North, is there a need for that story? We could presumably see some peace in Westeros for a while. Bran would be King of the Seven Kingdoms, and he agreed to his sister taking a kingdom for herself. The only reason for a fight would be if someone else took over as King (or Queen) after Bran and decided they wanted the north back.

The best way to bring her back would be with a Jon Snow spinoff. This would allow Sansa to work closely with the Wildlings and Jon, helping to bring harmony North of the Wall.

Game of Thrones is available to stream on HBO Max.
