There are a lot of great storylines to come in Outlander season 8. Sophie Skelton shares one storyline that she would love to see happen.
Of course, Skelton knows exactly which book storylines are included. Filming has already finished, and now the series is going through its last post-production period. However, she can’t outright say which storylines are happening. It’s important to keep a lot of it as a surprise.
That doesn’t stop Skelton from sharing the storylines she would have had fun doing, even if they’re not included. One of those involves the fake baby bump once more.
Will Roger and Brianna have another baby in Outlander season 8?
Brianna and Roger welcome another baby in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. This furthers the time travel lore, making it clear that not all children of time travelers can actually time travel. It’s like genetics, and sometimes, the gene is dormant.
The baby is called David William Ian Fraser MacKenzie, and we’ve explained the name previously at claireandjamie.com. The name David was one of Brian’s middle names, so the family used that for this new addition to the family. He can’t travel through the stones. At least, that’s the belief as Mandy explains that she senses that Davy is like water, just like their grandfather, Jamie.
This is the storyline Skelton would love to see happen according to TVLine. She would love to put on the fake baby bump again. Being a child of three, she says that it’s a great number, and she would love to see that play out on the screen for her brood.
"I’m a child of three, and I think three is a great number."
The pregnancy and birth are important in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone
While it just seems like yet another pregnancy storyline, it actually has some important for time travel and health problems in the Outlander books. After coming through the stones, Brianna starts to experience heart problems. Claire explains that the particular type of heart issue Bree has may be fixed by giving birth, so when Bree finds out that she’s pregnant, there is hope for Bree’s heart.
It’s clear that there is more to the overall story for Diana Gabaldon. Not everything is closed off in the ninth book, with the 10th and final book on its way. It will be interesting to see if the Outlander TV show writers choose to include the health problems with going through the stones. They have been hinted at via Buck MacKenzie’s heart issues in Outlander season 7, so it is possible.
Outlander is available to stream on STARZ.
