When it comes to period dramas, World War II dramas remain popular. They tell some horrific stories as well as ones about survival and family. We Were the Lucky Ones is loosely based on a true story of a Polish Jewish family doing everything possible to reunite.

So far, seven episodes of the series have aired. Just how many episodes are left, and when will the finale to the story air? After all, we need to see if all Kurc family members survived and reunited.

We Were the Lucky Ones finale date

There is only one more episode to the story. We Were the Lucky Ones has eight episodes to tell the book storyline, and that means next Thursday’s episode on May 2 is going to be the last.

There is a lot still going on with the family still separated. Genek has had to make sacrifices in his religion to get to where he feels he needs to be, while Addy has focused on finding somewhere that is home for his family, only to end up not getting that opportunity. Meanwhile, Halina has risked it all to get the people she loves out of trouble and make it safer for other Jews. Mila has done what she can for her daughter, only to be separated from her and eventually reunited a couple of times.

Can the entire family get back together? We know Halina gets a letter sometime after the war. The question is who that letter is from and the information that is enclosed in it. Also, who is she still with after escaping the Ghetto?

Will there be a We Were the Lucky Ones Season 2?

When we get shows that are well written and acted, we want to see more. That’s certainly the case for We Were the Lucky Ones. We want to see life after World War II. The people went through so much trauma that it was going to be near impossible to just slip back into everyday life. How do you get out of that survival mode?

We likely won’t get to see that play out. We Were the Lucky Ones is billed as a limited series. It is based on a singular book about the fight for the Kurc family to reunite. That makes the May 2 episode the series finale. It will tell the full story of the book.
