The end of Interview with the Vampire Season 2 saw Louis find Lestat in New Orleans. They initially discussed Claudia, but then the camera panned away. The two continued to talk, but we could no longer hear what they were saying.
Of course, when something like this happens, fans would love to know what was said. It’s clear that the past can’t be changed, but that doesn’t mean the two can’t find a way forward from that. This was also the first moment to see Lestat as himself. Every other time we’ve seen him, it’s been a version of those telling his story.
There is some bad news when it comes to what was said between the two vampires. We won’t get what was said.
Sam Reid will never share what was said in Interview with the Vampire
Well, never say “never,” but it looks like Sam Reid wants to keep this a secret from the fans. He won’t share the words that he and Jacob Anderson shared as the camera panned away. This does suggest that the two remained in character and were discussing something important for their characters, but that it’s something for us to never know about.
Reid points out to Entertainment Weekly that there are people who could probably work it out, though.
"I'm sure people who do that mouth-reading stuff can probably get into it."
Rolin Jones hopes Interview with the Vampire fans remain “respectful”
Showrunner Rolin Jones also isn’t going to share what was said. He hopes that the fans remain “respectful” of the private words that Lestat and Louis shared with each other. Again, it’s a sign that the two actors remained in character for the whole thing. Sometimes, the actors will end up breaking character when it comes to these types of scenes just to keep lips moving for the camera.
This is an important moment for Louis and Lestat. Louis hasn’t seen Lestat since assuming he’d killed his maker, while Lestat had been there in Paris to save Louis but had seemingly left after that. It’s only now that Louis knows Lestat was the one to save him that he flew out to New Orleans to find his former friend. They had a lot to talk about after decades of misunderstanding, hatred, and loss.
"I'm sure someone will try to break the code, but hopefully they don't. Hopefully, that's actually where the audience is respectful of that."
It looks like we won’t get to find out what they spoke about in Interview with the Vampire Season 3, as Lestat becomes a rock star.
