Could Interview with the Vampire Season 2 show us Lestat's story?
The end of Interview with the Vampire Season 1 brought us what seemed to be Lestat’s end. At least, his end in Louis’s storyline in the past. However, Lestat is still in some of the promotional material for Season 2.
The second season premieres in May. It’s something that we have all been excited to see, especially knowing where the storylines are moving to. We know that Louis and Claudia are heading to Europe and they’ll meet the Old Vampires. That means Armand and the theater of vampires.
It also means a heartbreaking storyline if the show does follow the books. Of course, with Lestat being included in some promotional material, it does bring up whether the show will follow the books. Sam Reid, who plays Lestat, shares that there are changes.
Sam Reid talks changes to the source material in Interview with the Vampire Season 2
When talking to SFX Magazine, Reid talked about how there is something exciting coming that isn’t in the books. He went on to share that Anne Rice doesn’t give the entire story in the books. It’s almost like we’re reminded that Louis is an unreliable narrator, and that is arguably something we have seen in the first season.
"But actually, you can justify it because when you look at the books and look at the way that they come out, and what happens in subsequent books after season one, there is a level of an unreliable element. You don’t always have to know the truth, because Anne Rice never really tells you the truth. She likes to change it up a bit."
Louis has Main Character Syndrome. That’s not all that surprising considering this is his story being told. There are more characters out there, though.
Could we get Lestat’s story in the past?
There is one way to bring us more Lestat in Interview with the Vampire Season 2. The option is to tell us Lestat’s story in the past.
Right now, though, we’re getting the story Louis is telling. Like the book and the movie, Louis shares what he is willing to, although that’s not always enough. In the TV series, Armand is there, too. She has the opportunity to share a little, which could open the door to some of Lestat’s storyline.
Is it possible that Armand knew Lestat? Could he share a little of seeing Lestat in Europe?
Lestat shows up at the end of the book/movie. He didn’t die at the hands of Louis and Claudia, but he was weakened. We can presume that he follows Louis and hides in the distance, potentially to get his revenge. Could we see some of that hiding in the second season as Lestat gains his energy back? Now that would be exciting to see.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 premieres on Sunday, May 12 on AMC.
