Just as Colin encouraged Penelope to find a husband in Bridgerton Season 3A, he realized his own feelings for her. And so it led to four episodes of Colin trying to backtrack everything he’d done. Did he succeed? What does the ending mean for Polin moving forward?

Caution: We’re delving into spoilers for Bridgerton Season 3A.

We knew this season would be all about Polin. It somewhat follows the storyline in Romancing Mr. Bridgerton by Julia Quinn, but there are some major changes. And those changes will have a huge knock-on effect with future storylines.

At least they should. We know that not all writers truly grasp the changes that they’ve made.

Did Colin and Penelope hook up in Bridgerton Season 3A?

The last episode of the four that dropped saw Lord Debling decide not to pursue a relationship with Penelope. She realizes that Colin had something to do with it, and she is angry about his actions. It doesn’t help that Colin refuses to tell Peneleope the truth about how he feels.

That is until Penelope brings it up. She says that Debling stepped aside because he thought that Colin had feelings for Penelope. He finally kneels in front of her, but not to propose. It’s to confess his feelings.

That carriage scene that we’ve all been waiting for? Yeah, that happened in this episode as they headed back to Colin’s house. He wanted her to come inside, but she is worried as it means she’ll need to face his family. Considering what they’d just done, is that a good idea?

Well, Colin decides to propose in the most unromantic way possible—something that seems to suit him! Was it really that surprising that Penelope said yes?

What happens when Colin learns the truth about Lady Whistledown?

Up to this point in the Bridgerton series, Colin hasn’t learned the truth about Lady Whistledown. That happens during the fourth book, which is also when the readers actually find out her identity.

The problem is that there are some major changes in the show that should have some knock-on effects for Polin when Colin eventually does find out. The first is that the gossip column is far more scandalous in the show than in the books. The second is that we heard that Colin is angry about Lady Whistledown, and there is no way that he will accept it being Penelope right away. That means someone close to him broke his trust.

In the books, Colin isn’t all that angry that Penelope is writing the gossip column. He’s angry that Penelope keeps putting herself in harm’s way to write it. That leads to him reprimanding her, but he still loves her. Is there any way back considering how the show has changed this storyline in the books?

This could depend on how it all comes out. If someone else tells Colin the truth, then it could be much more disastrous than if Penelope shared it all.
