Watch and read Bridgerton during Droughtlander to pass the time

As Droughtlander continues to go on, Outlander fans are looking for more content to read and watch. Bridgerton has become the latest top pick for many.

There is one season of the TV series to watch on Netflix, although there is likely to be more created with how successful it immediately became. However, if you’re looking for something to read, there are plenty of books to get through.

I’ll admit that it’s not for me. I tried a couple of episodes but couldn’t get into it. I’m not the biggest fan of these types of storylines anyway and don’t find Regency period historical fiction all that entertaining most of the time. I’m just not a romance person.

Claire and Jamie’s relationship isn’t the reason I watch or read Outlander. I like the action within the series. I’m there for the drama. I’m there for the history of Scotland (in the first books/seasons).

However, if you’re there mostly for the Frasers then Bridgerton is likely for you.

What is Bridgerton about?

The books and series follow the lives of the eight Bridgerton siblings. Set in the Regency period, the siblings all look for love. Of course, finding love isn’t as important as finding suitable marriages when you’re from a wealthy family in the Regency period.

It all starts with the social season for arranging marriages. It’s a dog eat dog world, which means plenty of drama between the women as they all fight for the same men. Who will pick who?

We also can’t forget the scandals of pregnancy out of wedlock, love between the classes, and turning down multiple marriage proposals. A woman’s actions reflect her family. It’s certainly not easy.

But what happens when one of the Bridgerton sisters falls in love with someone people think she shouldn’t?

Why Outlander fans should watch and read Bridgerton

This is one of those book series and shows that will connect to those who love the romance in Outlander. It’s a series for those who want more of the epic love story.

At the same time, there are some lavish costumes and sets. If this is something you love about period dramas, then you’ll want to watch the series just to see the beautiful items within it. There are costumes to give you inspiration for the next convention you attend.

For readers, there are plenty of books in the series. There’s nothing worse than starting a book series only to finish it within weeks. Julia Quinn’s series will take longer. There are nine books in the series, with the first, Duke and I, published back in 2000. The last in the series was published in 2013.

And if you love the series, Quinn has more books set in different time periods. She’s an author that will keep you on your toes and offer worlds that you can explore and dive into.
